With their fifth Christmas number one, LadBaby break chart records and dethrone the Beatles.

With their tune Food Aid, a reworking of the Band Aid song Do They Know It's Christmas, social media celebrity Mark Hoyle and his wife Roxanne, often known as LadBaby Mum, took the top spot. featuring Martin Lewis, the founder of MoneySavingExpert, on vocals and lyrics concerning the cost-of-living dilemma.

The song became the fastest-selling single of 2022 by selling more than 65,000 sales in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Last year, LadBaby matched the Beatles' tally of four Christmas number ones, which the Fab Four amassed over the course of four separate years in 1963, 1964, 1965, and 1967.

Nevertheless, Sir Paul McCartney has appeared as an official artist on five holiday chart-toppers, including the Beatles' greatest hits and Wings' 1977 song Mull of Kintyre.

The Trussell Trust and the Band Aid Trust will share the proceeds from the new single evenly.

We Built This City (2018), I Love Sausage Rolls (2019), Don't Stop Me Eatingin' (2020), and the Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John-featuring Sausage Rolls For Everyone helped LadBaby to the top of the holiday chart (2021).

I still find it hard to believe it, they said. We are the best. The organisation has succeeded five years running. Why are we doing it again?

"We would want to express our gratitude to everyone who has helped us over the past five years. A big apology to The Beatles, and to all The Beatles’ fans… I apologise.

"The cause succeeds. Christmas number one goes to The Trussell Trust once more.

"Thank you to everyone who downloaded, everyone who supported us, and everyone who added a little bit of Christmas joy. We adore you all. Yes, sir.

Wham! came in second with Last Christmas, and YouTube group Sidemen took third with Christmas Drillings featuring JME in support of the FareShare charity organisation that helps people in need of food.

All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey came in at number four, while Sheeran and Sir Elton's Merry Christmas completed the top five Christmas songs.

Lizzo's Amazon Music Original rendition of Stevie Wonder's Someday At Christmas climbed seven spots to position 15 this week.

It seems like yesterday when LadBaby debuted with their first holiday campaign four years ago, so offering warm congratulations on their fifth consecutive official Christmas number one feels a little odd, according to Martin Talbot, CEO of the Official Charts Company.

It takes a lot of effort to land one Christmas number one; to do it five times in a row is unparalleled and, to put it mildly, extraordinary.

"Mark, Roxanne, and their family's accomplishment goes beyond mere chart success.

Over the past five years, "they have worked tirelessly to raise awareness and money for food banks generally and the Trussell Trust in particular, especially at a time which continues to be so difficult for so many people in the UK."

Sir Cliff Richard's Christmas With Cliff, which dethroned Taylor Swift's Midnights at the top of the holiday albums chart, reached his highest chart position since 1993.
