THE NEW YORK Jimmy Cordero, a reliever for the Yankees, has agreed to serve the balance of the regular season and the postseason in 2023 as a penalty for breaking Major League Baseball's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Child Abuse Policy.
Following the conclusion of MLB's inquiry, Commissioner Robert D. Manfred on Wednesday revealed the details of Cordero's punishment. The inclusion of Cordero on the restricted list is effective right now.
In accordance with MLB's rules, Cordero will take part in a private, in-depth examination and treatment programme that is overseen by the Joint rules Board. The specifics of Cordero's violation are not known to the general public.
The Yankees declared the following:
The investigation being conducted by Major League Baseball and the sanctions imposed on Jimmy Cordero have the full backing of the Yankees. Domestic abuse is never justified, and we support the goals, norms, and implementation of MLB's Joint Domestic abuse, Sexual Assault, and Child Abuse Policy.
Aaron Boone, the manager of the Yankees, claimed that Cordero informed him about the ongoing league probe a few days earlier. Boone claimed that on Tuesday night, he was informed of Cordero's suspension.
It's sad when you learn about or receive that news, according to Boone. "Your thoughts are with everyone who is affected. …
My main concern at the moment is simply feeling sorry for the situation and hoping and praying that something positive will result from it, that whatever is happening will mature, grow, or be healed.
Boone claimed to have discussed the penalty with the team earlier on Wednesday. Prior to Wednesday's game at Yankee Stadium against the Orioles, the nameplate had been taken out of Cordero's designated locker; now all that was left were some clothes hangers and a phone charger.
Aaron Judge, the Yankees' captain, claimed to have spoken with Cordero earlier on Wednesday, before the ban was made public.
Judge remarked, "I just said, 'Hey, learn from this. "I was quite angry. I am aware that many of the team's players are angry. The league is in charge of this.
